This may not be the most exciting or interesting post for most but it is to me as "Kakegurui" was one of my top dramas for 2018. Did recap the entire series and to make it an easier read all of the recaps go in order from one to twelve. It was a late night drama but one that became very popular, while most prime time Japanese dramas are so-so at best these days the late night shows have remained at a high level and seems those are the only ones I view these days.
It's not the first time one of these shows has become immensely popular, 'Liar Game' was also a late night show and what a success that series was. If you did enjoy 'Liar Game' then this drama would be right up your alley as it's very similar to it. Season two of "Kakegurui" will be beginning on March 31st but that's not all as there will be a cinema movie coming out on May 3rd. Not positive but bet the series is a tie in with the film as you need to watch the drama to understand the movie.
As the title says this will be the first of a few intro posts for season two, I'm really looking forward to it and will be watching the first season for the third time this month. Won't go into every detail in this post about the new storyline and characters but sure most things, such as gambling, will remain the same. Most of the important characters from the first season will be returning plus there will be many new ones.
One person who will be new is kind of surprising and that's Sayuri from Nogi, that's her above. She's 26 in real life which seems to be a bit too old to play an eighteen year old student but there's probably some mystery behind her character. For you Nogi fans think she may have her second solo post coming up soon as she does have a pair of new mag spreads plus a few other activities. One was attending yesterday's 'Kobe Collection' show where she dressed as her character.
There was an event for the new season held today and will have plenty of pics from it at the bottom. The top of the post has a mini trailer for season two and it does look to be much more intense than the first one. Also have some things today from the first season to get any fans in the mood plus it'd be nice to get a few new ones for the drama, do highly recommend watching it.
Know for sure those five characters above will be making a return for season, could be a few others also. Here's a few screenshots from the first two shows and in the bottom few pics is Ruka. Did a pair of regular posts for her which were very popular. But for some reason forgot all about her but now that she's back in my brain will try to have another post or two for her soon.
Aoi as Mary is someone I really, really like as an actress and there aren't many better ones than her these days. Hate to admit it but also had forgotten about her for a while but she's another fave of mine who I'll be working on some posts for too. The drama will be airing on TBS and there's a Twitter page set up for the show which had these behind the scenes pics for season two.
Final tidbit for this post is that there was an event held today at the Kagurazaka Hall in Tokyo. The four main characters along with the director were on hand and they were talking about some of the gambling challenges that would be played in season two which makes me want to watch it even more. The drama is based upon a novel plus there had also been an anime, have never seen it but am definitely going to hunt it down. Have a massive amount of pics from today's event which is followed by a video of it, hope to have at least two more posts before the series begins.
The main character in the show is Yumeko Jabami, in season one she was a new transfer student at the elite Hyakkaou high school. She didn't appear so but Yumeko was very addicted to gambling and she usually came out on top. However her last two victories she didn't win any cash, up to then she had a debt of 8.8 million yen so wonder of that'll be carried over to the new season?
Minami is the one who plays the lead role and she's someone I'd love to do some posts for. However she won't be turning nineteen for a few more months and still have that rule about having solo posts for gals under twenty, figure it's okay though for drama recaps. But did make that rule mainly for Idols as too many young ones look too good to believe these days, to date haven't made any exceptions to the rule. Thinking of making one for Minami though as she is mainly an actress and quite a superb one too, she's never done a gravure spread and would be surprised if she ever does. So odds are good she'll soon have a few posts and talented actresses like her do deserve them though can't think of anyone her age who is as talented.
