Konnichiwa and Annyeong Haseyo minna-san

Hope that's correct above but what I'm saying is welcome everyone. May 10, 2019 is the first day of this blog and many may know me from 'Nao Kanzaki and Friends'... aitoda.com. There I have such a mix of things and finally decided to branch out with just a blog devoted to Japanese and Korean dramas. Will also be having some film reviews but one thing you won't see are any J-Pop idols or gravure models except for their dramas, this blog is dedicated 100% to dramas and films.

Also actresses as will be having many, many posts for them. Such as them appearing at events, mag spreads, interview pics and whatever else. So you should be seeing a lot of my bigger long time faves such as Erika Toda, Park Min-Young, Lee Yeon-Hee, Tsubasa Honda and too many others to count. The first few weeks there many not be too many posts for new dramas as I'll be copying many recaps from the old blog along with some film reviews and actress posts.

Won't be going too far back, perhaps to 2015 with a few exceptions and will have an entire series in a row to make it easy to follow. Did find it a problem completing series at the Nao Kanzaki blog, won't be doing that here as all the series will have a post for every episode. Thanks for visiting, it'll will be a work in progress for a while here but hopefully not for too long. Comments are also appreciated, like to know your opinions on dramas and for any recommendations you may have.

News and upcoming projects

Should have done this on my Aitoda blog which is to let viewers know what's going on. Seems like a good way to let everyone know if I'll be taking a break, what to look forward to and any other tidbits.

Updating update, May 19th:

Whew, have finally finished transferring over enough posts from the Aitoda blog. May be a few here and there in the future for some new that's being introduced but there shouldn't be too many. Have also included announcers for women that I'll be posting about as my top two current faves just happen to be in that profession.

The first five episodes of '3-Nen A Gumi' have now been posted. For series over five shows will be doing two batches of them as I figure ten posts are way too many to read through during one sitting so will have the second half of the drama coming up in 2-3 weeks, highly recommend the show.

June 4th.... Have written up the recaps for episodes 7 and 8 of the '3-Nen A Gumi' show and will have those long with episode eight by June 6th. Up next for Korean dramas is up in the air but leaning towards a pair of shorter series which will be either "Splish Splash Love" or "The Universe's Star".

Whew, this may be the biggest cast ever for a regular drama as there's twenty more students and a few other teachers. The show began on the date of March 1st and by what was told to us in the first episode the events take place until March 10th, the day the students were(are?) supposed to graduate....

The series began on March 1st and it seemed every episode would last one day as the the first three shows did. But these last two episodes take place on March third and fourth, actually there's another hour or so to go as you can see above until the date turns to the 4th. Will concentrate more on Gunji and the Berumuzu gang to start this recap off with. Hopefully you read the above post as I won't be talking much about what's led us to this scene.
Except for the fact that Gunji had overheard the fracas in the classroom where Kai had revealed the location of the man he knew as 'K' but whose real name is Kishi. That hideout was behind a hostess club which Kishi ran and has been discovered by Gunji, those above screenshots show some of that scene. We're finally getting somewhere with the mystery of who edited the fake video of Reina doping before a swimming meet that Satomi had filmed. Gunji won't admit but he's slowly beginning to feel a lot less hate for Hiiragi as he now knows he didn't kill any of his students plus if it wasn't for him Kishi wouldn't have been found.
Kishi has slightly admitted to tampering with the video but won't give a full confession.... yet. Gunji does give him the third degree but for now Kishi won't break but he may soon as Gunji has handcuffed him to a table and plans to leave him there all night. Will see a bit more with Gunji and Kishi as this post goes on but for now the main action for the rest of episode takes place back at school where Hiiragi is lying in a semi conscious state on the homeroom floor. He wasn't able to take his pills and shortly after the fight with Kai he crumbled to the floor unable to move.

With their teacher lying on the floor unable to stop them the students dashed out of the classroom and headed straight to the art room where Hiiragi had his headquarters. They were able to locate their cellphones he had taken from them in the first show and immediately all of them began contacting people in the outside world to let them know they were safe and no one had been killed. However they were still locked in the school but with the police now knowing about Hiiragi's condition have planned to invade the school with their elite SIT squad.
This is only the fifth episode so it's way too early for the students to think about leaving. But that was the goal of 22 of them who were now in the huge art room but six students have other thoughts and are planning on staying. There's a total of 29 students left but Sakura has remained with Hiiragi to make sure he's okay. Those 22 may not have much choice in the matter as Hiiragi had given his detonator watch with Satomi who now trusts his teacher more than anyone in the world. As you can see above Satomi has threatened to set off more bombs unless the students stay and listen to what the six have to tell them.
And it's quite a shock to the other 22 students as the six reveal they would lay their lives down for Hiiragi and have no plans to leave the school. While the six were held captive Hiiragi revealed to them what his plan was from the beginning, to find out the true cause of Reina's death as he feels she didn't commit suicide but was actually murdered. Hiiragi has much evidence and theories to back up his claim and the six students ended believing their teacher fully. Now they too want to find out the truth behind Reina's death and plan on helping their teacher regardless of the consequences. Also as you can see below Hiiragi had told them he has an incurable disease and doesn't have much longer to live, for now don't what the disease is.

And that above screenshot could be the most important bit of info we learned this show as we find out so much more about Suwa. We have seen her often in the shows but with such a large cast not enough as she's played by my huge fave Mio. The 'key' about Suwa is that she's known the Berumuzu leader Kishi for a long time and is quite close to him. Will talk about all of her past now which may not go in the exact order of events.
Suwa's dream was to become a model but in order for an agency to sign her she had to come up with two million yen which definitely felt like a scam. Not to Suwa though and she's going to have to work to get the sum of money, being a high school student didn't leave her with many options. Hostessing shouldn't have been an option but that's what Suwa chose to do and applied at the club Kishi ran. At first Suwa had been rebuffed by the assistant manager but once Kishi took a look at Suwa he hired her on the spot. Also outside of work the pair do spend quite a bit of time together, not sure if they were truly dating but that's what Suwa had told her classmates.
One afternoon Kishi was picking up Suwa at the Kaio high school when he noticed Reina jogging by. He's seen her before and really wanted to meet her which naturally made Suwa fume as she couldn't stand Reina but at one time they had been friends. Kishi wanting to meet Reina is where Kai came in and you can read about that incident in the previous recap. But for now it seems as though Kishi never met Reina or perhaps if they did we'll learn about it in a future episode.
Suwa had revealed much of this to her the other students still locked up at school but still stood behind Kishi 100%. He somehow had connections in the modeling world and was able to help Suwa start her career though she's been in very few mags to this point. Most of the students were quite angry with Suwa when they heard her tale but as she kept insisting over and over she had nothing to do with Reina's death and also stated that she also believed Kishi was innocent too.

Hiiragi also knew much about Suwa's past, he seems to know everything and think one of his plans was to have her tell the students her story to make it more believable. For now Hiiragi is still in a semi conscious state on his homeroom's floor and Sakura won't leave his side. She doesn't know what's been happening in the art room but Sakura can't abandon her teacher no matter what he's done. Back in the art room it's now decision time on what to do, leave the school or remain to possibly solve the mystery of Reina's death? But with Hiiragi out for the count what can the students do without him but the story the six told their mates didn't get through to all of them
About half the students want to stay which means the other half want to leave and that group is led by Seo who is in the bottom screenshot. If they stay and things go wrong they may have a criminal record which they'll carry for the rest of their lives. Plus cold heartily some said that Reina's dead and probably did kill herself, what does the past have to do with anything now? The reason for them thinking about having a criminal record is that the police have notified them they'll be invading the school, they still have the detonator which many want to use to prevent the invasion though of course they didn't want to kill any police.
During this heated discussion who should appear at the doorway then Hiiragi who was accompanied by Sakura. He fully understood why so many students wanted to leave and couldn't blame them but didn't they want to solve the 'murder' of their classmate? As Hiiragi also told them that death could have happened to any of them and if there's one thing he didn't want to see take place was another death of a student of his. There's no way his current actions will jeopardize their future and won't they reconsider leaving, Hiiragi has said he won't stop them. After hearing their teacher's words and the way the others felt about Hiiragi the potentially leaving students had a change of heart, all will stay and do whatever it takes to find out all of the reasons that led to Reina's death.

Don't know how I did it but will be able to have this recap with only four segments and didn't leave any major details or happenings out. Now it's a team of thirty, Hiiragi and his 29 students who will work to find out the truth behind the death of Reina and by what Hiiragi has been telling them it's almost definitely a murder. But the immediate concern is the police as they've invaded the school, if they take the students away there's no way they'll be able to solve Reina's mysterious death.
Hiiragi is really suffering with his illness plus getting hurt so bad in the fight with Kai wasn't helping either. But he's told the students to remain in the art room as he'll take care of the police, he had set up monitors throughout the school beforehand and the students were able to observe his actions. The police were slowly creeping up a hallway, Hiiragi executed his plan perfectly for when they were passing by a classroom window he dropped from the ceiling landing five feet from them with only the window separating them.
As you know Hiiragi had planted many bombs around the school which he can set off with his detonator. Many of them though aren't too powerful and serve more as a warning. With the police just feet away Hiiragi set off a pair in the hallway, not enough to injure anyone but to put the SIT squad in retreat. He also announced the students were still locked up and unless the police left the school he would set off the bombs where they were. With really no choice the chief Iragashi, once Hiiragi's ally, told his team to evacuate the school which is what they did.
Good timing too as shortly after their departure Hiiragi slumped to the floor unable to move. The police know he's not well but have no idea yet how critical his condition is which I'm sure will play an important part in future episodes. The students had observed the scene but were unaware that Hiiragi was once again severely in pain but they also had another dilemma on their hands. They discovered skimming through Kishi's records that a person had ordered from him an edited version of Reina's video. It was a teacher(!) who had ordered the doctored video and that person went by the name of 'Hunter', with that new mystery this episode came to it's end.

These episodes are getting better as they go on, can't believe how many plot changes there's been and it's really keeping this show so fresh and interesting. We're halfway through this series and will stop the recaps for a little while as I haven't viewed any episodes past this one. There were five in a row for today and the next batch will also have that many, figure if I had all ten in a row it'd be too much to read through. Will be keeping that same format with any shows longer than five episodes and plan on having the remaining recaps in about two weeks.
