Konnichiwa and Annyeong Haseyo minna-san

Hope that's correct above but what I'm saying is welcome everyone. May 10, 2019 is the first day of this blog and many may know me from 'Nao Kanzaki and Friends'... aitoda.com. There I have such a mix of things and finally decided to branch out with just a blog devoted to Japanese and Korean dramas. Will also be having some film reviews but one thing you won't see are any J-Pop idols or gravure models except for their dramas, this blog is dedicated 100% to dramas and films.

Also actresses as will be having many, many posts for them. Such as them appearing at events, mag spreads, interview pics and whatever else. So you should be seeing a lot of my bigger long time faves such as Erika Toda, Park Min-Young, Lee Yeon-Hee, Tsubasa Honda and too many others to count.

Should have done this on my Aitoda blog which is to let viewers know what's going on. Seems like a good way to let everyone know if I'll be taking a break, what to look forward to and any other tidbits.

Updating update, May 19th:

Whew, have finally finished transferring over enough posts from the Aitoda blog. May be a few here and there in the future for some new that's being introduced but there shouldn't be too many. Have also included announcers for women that I'll be posting about as my top two current faves just happen to be in that profession.

The first five episodes of '3-Nen A Gumi' have now been posted. For series over five shows will be doing two batches of them as I figure ten posts are way too many to read through during one sitting so will have the second half of the drama coming up in 2-3 weeks, highly recommend the show.

June 4th.... Have written up the recaps for episodes 7 and 8 of the '3-Nen A Gumi' show and will have those long with episode eight by June 6th. Up next for Korean dramas is up in the air but leaning towards a pair of shorter series which will be either "Splish Splash Love" or "The Universe's Star".

Start Date: January 14/16 as it aired on both the MBS and TBS networks
Theme song: "Strawberry Feels" by BIGMAMA    Director: Tsutomu Hanabusa

Listed the characters this way for the "Re:Mind" drama and thought it's be a good idea to do it once again. Video at the top is a short promo one for this show. This series still reminds me so much of 'Liar Game' and there aren't many dramas better than that one, lets get to the characters and these are the main ones that will be featured. Have the character descriptions though some may be blank for now as we haven't met all of them yet.

Mahiro Takasugi as Ryota Suzui.... wimpy guy who befriends Yumeko

Ruka Matsuda as Itsuki Sumeragi.... Richest student at Hyakkaou Academy

Taishi Nakagawa as Kaeda Manyuda.... Student council member

Natsume Mito as Runa Yomozuki.... Student council member

Natsumi Okamoto as Yuriko Nishinotoin....

Yuma Yamato as Jun Kiwatari.... school bully

Yurika Nakamura as Sayaka Igarashi.... student council member

Miki Yanagi as Midari Ikishima....

Been a long time since I've written one of these recaps up but did watch the first two episodes again which brought me up to speed and it seemed the shows were better the second time around. Won't go into too much of what's happened as you can read those two recaps which are above this post. That first gambling showdown stretched into almost two episodes with the new transfer student Yumeko prevailing over Mary who had been the school's best gambler but now has a debt of 8.8 million yen.

Mary is now a 'house pet' or in her case a kitty, those are students who have an enormous debt and have to do whatever those not in debt tell her to do. She's also heavily bullied now, you do feel a bit sorry for her even though she was once among the school's worst bullies. We don't see much of her in this show but things get even bleaker for her in the next episode.
Yumeko doesn't have too much time to bask in her new found glory as a new challenger steps right up to the plate. That's Itsuki who we see above, she's one of the richest students at the school as her father is the CEO of the second largest toy company in Japan. Her challenge to Yumeko is the game of concentration. That's played by having all 52 cards in a deck face down and you try to match all of the pairs.... get two fives, two Kings, etc. Whoever gets to 28 cards first is the winner but Itsuki has a different kind of game in mind.
That's 'Double Concentration' which is played with two decks totaling 104 cards, first one to obtain 54 is the winner. What makes this much tougher is that you don't just match the card but the also the suit, for instance you can't get just two fours but need two four of spades or in other words you need to match the number and suit.

This was a very high stakes game as the wager is 20 million yen(!) or a little over $178,000, remember these are just high school students. The game begins with Yumeko doing fairly well, at one point she has a lead of 40 cards to 36. But one miss is all it takes which is what happened to Yumeko, with only 28 cards left Itsuki went on a roll picking the pairs and within about a minute she managed to obtain the 54 cards needed for a victory.
Itsuki wasn't too much of a gloater or at least she didn't have time to celebrate her victory as Yumeko was right back with a challenge. The problem was she didn't have 20 million yen to wager again but to Itsuki that was okay, she'll put up her money but from Yumeko she wants something else. That's all of her nails, the ones on your fingers and feet if she wins. Itsuki brought out a case showing some of the ones she's collected from previous victories, seems like the deck is stacked against Yumeko.
Stacked against her could be an apt term as she had deduced something during the previous game. Yumeko thought she had noticed small markings on the back of the cards in the previous game, when Itsuki opened the two fresh decks for the new 'Double Concentration' the same marks were there.

Somehow Yumeko had memorized what card a marking stood for as she had only seen most cards for a few seconds in the previous game. Yumeko was certainly on the warpath this time around as she didn't even give Itsuki the shot at having a turn as she got he 54 cards needed to win a game in about two minutes as Itsuki stood dumbfounded at what was happening. That's when Yumeko told her about the cards and how she had noticed the marks on their backs were the same as the last game.
No actual winnings for Yumeko but she did win back her 20 million yen and also was able to keep all of her nails. Itsuki though was shamed in front of all of the other students, her credibility is now zero but at least Yumeko won't go public with the fact of her cheating or at least not yet. Those two games took up just about the entire episode so that brings us to the conclusion of this recap.

That bottom screenshot is of one of the Student Council members who we haven't seen much of all at yet but we do a bit more in the next show. Thought Ruka as Itsuki was quite terrific in this episode and recently just did her first solo post with another one coming up very soon. Another solid show and do expect all ten of them to be, below this recap is the one for the fourth episode.
