Konnichiwa and Annyeong Haseyo minna-san

Konnichiwa and Annyeong Haseyo minna-san

Hope that's correct above but what I'm saying is welcome everyone. May 10, 2019 is the first day of this blog and many may know me from 'Nao Kanzaki and Friends'... aitoda.com. There I have such a mix of things and finally decided to branch out with just a blog devoted to Japanese and Korean dramas. Will also be having some film reviews but one thing you won't see are any J-Pop idols or gravure models except for their dramas, this blog is dedicated 100% to dramas and films.

Also actresses as will be having many, many posts for them. Such as them appearing at events, mag spreads, interview pics and whatever else. So you should be seeing a lot of my bigger long time faves such as Erika Toda, Park Min-Young, Lee Yeon-Hee, Tsubasa Honda and too many others to count. The first few weeks there many not be too many posts for new dramas as I'll be copying many recaps from the old blog along with some film reviews and actress posts.

Won't be going too far back, perhaps to 2015 with a few exceptions and will have an entire series in a row to make it easy to follow. Did find it a problem completing series at the Nao Kanzaki blog, won't be doing that here as all the series will have a post for every episode. Thanks for visiting, it'll will be a work in progress for a while here but hopefully not for too long. Comments are also appreciated, like to know your opinions on dramas and for any recommendations you may have.

News and upcoming projects

Should have done this on my Aitoda blog which is to let viewers know what's going on. Seems like a good way to let everyone know if I'll be taking a break, what to look forward to and any other tidbits.

Updating update, May 19th:

Whew, have finally finished transferring over enough posts from the Aitoda blog. May be a few here and there in the future for some new that's being introduced but there shouldn't be too many. Have also included announcers for women that I'll be posting about as my top two current faves just happen to be in that profession.

The first five episodes of '3-Nen A Gumi' have now been posted. For series over five shows will be doing two batches of them as I figure ten posts are way too many to read through during one sitting so will have the second half of the drama coming up in 2-3 weeks, highly recommend the show.

June 4th.... Have written up the recaps for episodes 7 and 8 of the '3-Nen A Gumi' show and will have those long with episode eight by June 6th. Up next for Korean dramas is up in the air but leaning towards a pair of shorter series which will be either "Splish Splash Love" or "The Universe's Star".

Hinako Sakurai: "Gohoubi Gohan" drama, episode five recap

Air Dates: October 2nd to December 19th Sunday nights at midnight on BS TV-Tokyo
Total of twelve episodes, 23 minutes a show and subs were done by Macthitza at DA

Main Cast: Small cast and all the characters are quite likable, through five episodes Hinako has been in 100% of the scenes.

Hinako Sakura as Sakiko Ikeda.... 22 year old woman who has just moved to Tokyo from Nagano and has begun work as an OL at the Suzume Stationary Company in the distribution department. Sakiko is an efficient worker but doesn't have enough confidence in herself, to make herself feel better Food has become her biggest passion. Doesn't matter if it's eating out or at home as Sakiko has such pleasure in the meals she consumes and it's quite hilarious watching her eat.

Sae Okazaki as Kaede Kominato.... Works at the same office and has been there a little while longer than Sakiko who at first was quite intimidated by Kaede. But at the end of the first show the pair bumped into each other at a ritzy burger shop, they found out they have so much in common and are becoming best friends.

Miku as Aoyagi.... Office manager at Suzume Stationary and Sakiko was petrified of her at first but after sharing a meal with her found out Aoyagi is a down to earth, funny woman.

Oolong Yoshida as Morigasaki.... One of the directors of the stationary company.

Kizuki as Honda.... Goofy office worker who became Sakiko's first 'friend' at the company.

Yuuki Furukawa as Makoto Isogai.... We just met him at the end of the second episode so will edit this bio, he's in the planning department and think his role will be important.

Previous recaps:

**** The above recap only needed two mini paragraphs so this is the first recap I've written up in over two weeks. Viewed this show on November 3rd, it's now the 19th so hope I remember what happened. The fourth episode was never subbed and it doesn't appear as though we missed anything as the shows so far are just stand alone ones.

In the first three recaps our 'heroine' Sakiko had the wrong impression of her co-workers at the Suzume Stationary company. She thought all were either mean, robotic or just too high above her. But after sharing meals with the trio Sakiko was wrong about them as all are really nice and down to earth people. Especially Kaede who has become Sakiko's best friend and the pair have eaten together a few more times. As this show opened up it was late Friday and the duo finally finished a major project. To Sakiko it meant they should celebrate at some new eatery however Kaede spends her Fridays with her family usually eating Sukiyaki, Sakiko is on her own this night.

With that 'freedom' Sakiko thought why not try something different, perhaps visiting an upscale bar she thought as she passed one. Sakiko is 22 in age and has never been in a bar before so she had no clue what to order or how to act, she loves drinking but only beer and highballs to date. Thinking she was sophisticated Sakiko ordered a Chaser(!) which made the bartender chuckle, that's usually water which you drink after a strong shot or drink of alcohol. So Sakiko was at a loss on what to order but it slipped out she hailed from Nagano which seems to be a place for apples. That's according to the bartender who got a fresh shipment of apples that day from Nagano, he prepared an original creation with an apple and thanks to Sakiko's suggestion will name it Nostalgia, that's the drink above and below.

Another cocktail was consumed by Sakiko and what an enjoyable evening she had at the bar, as mentioned it was her first time ever at one so guess restaurants don't count. The name of the place was Bar Lumiere, being a high class establishment also meant a high bill and you can see how shocked Sakiko was viewing her tab for only two drinks. At the end we learned the bill came to 5,000 yen or a little over $43, WOW!!!!

But of course this is mainly a food drama, nothing was eaten at that bar on a Friday night and now it's Saturday morning. Sakiko received two packages that day from her grandmother who lives in Nagano, both were crammed with vegetables and other treats. Food is what Sakiko needed that day and surprised she didn't visit some eatery after her visit to the bar. A dish with Bamboo Shoots was on the menu, at first thought Sakiko wasn't much of a cook but she can make anything from scratch. You can see below some of what Sakiko prepared with the shoots, that Tempura did look yummy.

That above screenshot was from the final seconds when Sakiko told Kaede how much those two cocktails set her back. So after that Tempura meal arriving was that second package of food from Sakiko's grandmother, this time the key item was Basashi and have learned a few new foods in this show. Looking up what the food was it appears it may be horse meat(!) and is very popular in the Kumamoto area, seems it tastes much like Sashimi. Whatever it was Sakiko certainly enjoyed it and it's such a pleasure watching her eat but especially when she's with others.

That ends this recap, this is an enjoyable series but do like it better when Sakiko eats out with others. Not sure when the next pair of recaps will be, hopefully soon as I am enjoying this drama and these are easy to write up. But am watching three others and want to start on them, think the next recaps will be for the "Work Later, Drink Now" drama. It's currently airing and have watched the first three shows. It's a Korean drama and may be better than this series, while this one is based on food the other has to do with a trio of women who love to drink to excess!
